La artista tailandesa Molly Yllom es la creadora de CRYBABY. El concepto nació en 2017 tras la pérdida de su perro y el pelo del personaje está inspirado en sus orejas. Nació como una forma de expresar sus emociones, ya que desde pequeña tuvo que reprimir mucho su tristeza porque su madre no le permitía llorar.
